The Rock is a small village south west of Wagga Wagga. It is a typical small NSW country town with a local pub, Bowling Club and a footy team. About 5 kilometres west of the village is a reserve known as Yerong Walking Trail and if you have a bit of time and energy you should walk to the top of the croppy outrock or "Rock" hence the name of the town.

The Rock is also known as Kengal (meaning 'sloping hill'), a Dreaming place, lookout, and ceremonial site for the Wiradjuri People and their descendants. It was once used for male initiation rituals. Traditional lore has it that Kengal was created by Baiame, the creator who also taught the Wiradjuri People how to make fire and spears.
